Highway Vehicle Crash Modeler

High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTech) is an infrastructure-centered firm focusing on practice, research, policy, and technology transfer.  HPTech was established in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving the U.S. federal government at their facilities and project sites.  Our uniqueness lies in our ability to integrate physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, planning, and policy when developing and delivering infrastructure solutions.

​HPTech is currently pursuing a major federal contract and we are identifying candidates who would be interested in working with us should we be awarded the contract.  At this stage, we are looking for a  Highway Vehicle Crash Modeler who will be responsible for modeling highway vehicle crash data.  The focus of the position is on Finite Element (FE) modeling, data collection, data reduction, quality assurance/quality control, and management of field collected data.



  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in civil or transportation engineering.

  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in transportation safety research and vehicle crash analysis.

  • Expertise in advance modeling and analysis strategies and techniques to develop and validate FE Models of vehicles and hardware.

  • Ability to model/simulate vehicle and occupant safety scenarios, apply models and simulations for the analysis of vehicle safety, conduct investigations into occupant risks, and analyze and develop systems for physical protection and security.

  • Ability to provide analysis of vehicle crashes that improve the understanding of safety countermeasures that are implemented at the roadside or in-vehicle.

  • Expertise in the analysis of nationally recognized data sets like the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study (NMVSS); the National Automotive Safety Sampling (NASS); and the Large Truck Crash Causation Study (LTCCS).

  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and writing skills.

  • Excellent team and collaborative skills.

This anticipated position, which is contingent upon the contract award to HPTech, would be based in McLean, Virginia.
