Senior Software Developer

High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTech) is an infrastructure-centered firm focusing on practice, research, policy, and technology transfer. HPTech was established in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving the U.S. federal government at their facilities and project sites. We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to design, develop, and deliver scalable, enterprise-grade software solutions supporting nationally significant transportation and infrastructure research programs. This role plays a key part in building and maintaining web-based, cloud-native, and desktop applications that enable data access, analytics, and visualization across FHWA research platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, architectural leadership, and hands-on development experience across modern application stacks and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade software solutions, including web-based, cloud-native, and desktop applications.
Lead application architecture and technical design using .NET technologies and modern development frameworks.
Develop and optimize data-driven applications with advanced relational database programming using Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle®.
Implement end-to-end DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment.
Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Provide architectural guidance, technical leadership, and code quality oversight across development teams.
Collaborate closely with engineers, data specialists, and stakeholders in Agile or DevSecOps environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering, or software engineering.
8+ years of professional software development experience delivering complex, scalable systems.
Strong expertise in .NET application development and enterprise software architectures.
Advanced experience with relational databases, including performance tuning and optimization.
Hands-on experience with cloud-native development and deployment.
Solid understanding of DevOps principles and secure software development practices.
Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions across cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of FHWA InfoHighway portals (InfoPave, InfoBridge, InfoMaterials, InfoPTF).
