Senior Laboratory Technician

High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTech) is an infrastructure-centered firm focusing on practice, research, policy, and technology transfer. HPTech was established in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving the U.S. federal government at their facilities and project sites. Our uniqueness lies in our ability to integrate physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, planning, and policy when developing and delivering infrastructure solutions.

​HPTech is currently pursuing an upcoming federal contract, and we are identifying candidates who would be interested in working with us should we be awarded the contract. At this stage, we are looking for a Senior Laboratory Technician (SLT) who will be responsible for operating and maintaining a government mobile asphalt laboratory used for technology transfer of emerging asphalt technologies. The position is responsible for asphalt mixture testing using AASHTO and ASTM test procedures, oversight of nondestructive field tests, and demonstrating and showcasing various emerging asphalt technologies. The SLT will provide oversight of other technicians in performing tests and collecting and processing data. The SLT will conduct quality assurance of the test data resulting from laboratory and field tests and prepare the data for entry into the InfoMaterials database. The SLT will be responsible for maintaining the general laboratory test equipment and keeping the laboratory current with AASHTO re:source accreditation.

 

Qualifications

  • An associate degree in engineering (civil, electrical, electronics, mechanical).

  • At least 5 years of experience in asphalt materials testing, including Superpave System.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the testing of asphalt mixtures using various AASHTO and ASTM test procedures.

  • Proficient in the use of computers for data analysis and management.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent team and collaborative skills.

  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level II certification is required.

This anticipated position, which is contingent upon the contract award to HPTech, would be based in McLean, VA.
