Senior ITS Engineer

High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTech) is an infrastructure-centered firm focusing on practice, research, policy, and technology transfer.  HPTech was established in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving the U.S. federal government at their facilities and project sites.  Our uniqueness lies in our ability to integrate physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, planning, and policy when developing and delivering infrastructure solutions.

 

​HPTech is currently pursuing an upcoming major federal contract, and we are identifying candidates who would be interested in working with us should we be awarded the contract.  At this stage, we are looking for a Senior Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer (SITSE) who is who is knowledgeable and has demonstrated experience in one or more than one ITS field, including systems engineering, communications engineering, transportation engineering, software engineering, or computer science. The SITSE should be experienced in the development of system architectures, special software tools to support the development of an architecture and be knowledgeable in all aspects of ITS. The candidate must be familiar with connected vehicle technology, traffic sensor types, sensor processing approaches, traffic and signal control systems, and communications system applications, and have the technical expertise necessary to integrate these various technologies.

 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree (B.S.) in civil engineering, transportation engineering, systems and industrial engineering, computer science and engineering, or a related field.

  • An advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D.) in transportation engineering, systems and industrial engineering, computer science and engineering, or a related field is desired.

  • At least 10 years of experience with a B.S. degree, 8 years of experience with an M.S. degree, or 6 years of experience with a Ph.D. degree.

  • Familiarity with the issues surrounding the deployment of V2X technology and U.S. Department of Transportation's National V2X Deployment Plan.

  • Knowledgeable in the emerging trends in smart cities.

  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation at conferences, symposia, workshops, and other technical meetings.

  • Excellent team and collaborative skills.

 

This anticipated position, which is contingent upon the contract award to HPTech, would be based in Herndon, Virginia.
