Senior Civil Engineer

 

High Performance Technologies, Inc. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead engineering tasks that support national-level pavement, bridge, and highway infrastructure research programs. In this role, you will evaluate, validate, and interpret complex infrastructure performance data used to improve the design, preservation, and management of the nation’s roads and bridges. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, data, and technology teams while contributing to FHWA’s InfoHighway™ research data platforms. This is an opportunity to shape impactful research that drives innovation in highway transportation infrastructure across the United States.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering tasks supporting major research data programs, including LTPP InfoPave, LTBP InfoBridge, and other FHWA InfoHighway portals.

  • Perform high-level quality control, validation, and analysis of pavement, bridge, and related infrastructure performance datasets.

  • Review and interpret data collected from field inspections, nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technologies, and laboratory testing.

  • Ensure research data meets national quality standards, enabling its use in engineering studies and decision-making.

  • Collaborate with engineers, researchers, database specialists, and software developers.

  • Support development of analytical and visualization tools for large-scale engineering datasets.

  • Prepare reports, TechBriefs, and journal articles.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering (Ph.D. preferred).

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a master's degree, or 5+ years with a Ph.D. degree.

  • Strong expertise in pavement engineering, bridge engineering, materials, structural performance, or related fields.

  • Experience working with large engineering datasets or infrastructure performance data.

  • Ability to interpret field measurements, inspection data, and laboratory results.

  • Experience with engineering data visualization and advanced analytics.

  • Understanding of national highway standards (NBI, NBE, SNBI, NBIS).

  • Familiarity with FHWA research programs and data portals (InfoPave, InfoBridge, InfoPTF, etc.).

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technical disciplines.
