Mechatronic Research Engineer
High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTech) is an infrastructure-centered firm focusing on practice, research, policy, and technology transfer. HPTech was established in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving the U.S. federal government at their facilities and project sites. Our uniqueness lies in our ability to integrate physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, planning, and policy when developing and delivering infrastructure solutions.
HPTech is currently pursuing a task order under a major federal contract, and we are identifying candidates who would be interested in working with us should we be awarded the task order. At this stage, we are looking for a Mechatronic Research Engineer who will be working at a state-of-the-art research laboratory at a government facility. The candidate will be responsible for performing the mechanical design, fabrication, automation and control of laboratory experimental set-ups and testing apparatuses, and will perform the design, fabrication and testing of smart systems (robotics, smart sensors, etc.) for structures and construction research.
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or Computer Science, along with basic laboratory experience that includes demonstrated work as an undergraduate research assistant or intern in a robotics laboratory, or equivalent.
At least one year of experience, after completing undergraduate degree, working in a laboratory setting and conducting research on robotics or automation.
An advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D.) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or Computer Science, which includes experimental robotics or automation research, desirable.
5 or more years of experience, after completing undergraduate degree, which includes planning, conducting, and reporting on mechatronics research, desirable.
Excellent team and collaborative skills.
This anticipated position, which is contingent upon the task order award to HPTech, would be based in McLean, Virginia.
