Laboratory Technicians

High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTech) is an infrastructure-centered firm focusing on practice, research, policy, and technology transfer. HPTech was established in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving the U.S. federal government at their facilities and project sites. Our uniqueness lies in our ability to integrate physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, planning, and policy when developing and delivering infrastructure solutions.

​HPTech is currently pursuing an upcoming federal contract, and we are identifying candidates who would be interested in working with us should we be awarded the contract. At this stage, we are looking for Laboratory Technicians (LT) who will be responsible for operating and maintaining a government mobile asphalt laboratory used for technology transfer of emerging asphalt technologies. The positions are responsible for asphalt mixture testing using AASHTO and ASTM test procedures and according to approved work plans and demonstrating and showcasing various emerging asphalt technologies. The LTs will perform tests, collect data, and input into databases. The LTs will be responsible for maintaining the mobile asphalt laboratory and all its test equipment, including the Asphalt Mixture Performance Tester (AMPT), in a state of good repair.

 

Qualifications

  • At least a high school diploma.

  • At least two years of experience in asphalt materials testing and laboratory and/or plant operations.

  • Demonstrated experience in flexible pavement construction, preferably as part of a paving crew or other experience with on-site activities.

  • Experience with pavement inspections, field operations, and the use of destructive or nondestructive test used in asphalt pavements desirable.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent team and collaborative skills.

  • A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is desired.

This anticipated positions, which are contingent upon the contract award to HPTech, would be based in McLean, VA.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
