Concrete Research Engineer

High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTech) is an infrastructure-centered firm focusing on practice, research, policy, and technology transfer.  HPTech was established in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving the U.S. federal government at their facilities and project sites.  Our uniqueness lies in our ability to integrate physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, planning, and policy when developing and delivering infrastructure solutions.

 

​We are looking for a  Concrete Research Engineer (CRE) who will be responsible for planning and conducting research on innovative and emerging concrete technologies. The CRE shall have diversified concrete materials and structures research experience, including constituent materials (aggregates, cements, supplementary cementitious materials, and admixtures), fresh and hardened property testing, models and software tools to predict in-service performance, and knowledge of and experience in the use of design codes, standard specifications and standard test methods. The candidate must be capable of developing educational and training materials, and presenting during demonstration projects, seminars, webinars, scientific meetings, and workshops.

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering.

  • At least 5 years of concrete materials and structures research experience.

  • Specific experience in concrete, concrete-making materials, and concrete deterioration mechanisms.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in proportioning, mixing, curing, and testing of concrete materials.

  • Research experience in the area of internal concrete curing highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the use of models and software tools to predict in-service performance of concrete structures.

  • In depth knowledge of concrete performance related specifications.

  • Proven ability to develop experimental designs and conduct statistical analyses.

  • Record of published peer-reviewed journal articles and research reports, and conference presentations.

  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and writing skills.

  • Excellent team and collaborative skills.

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration highly desirable.
