Coatings and Corrosion Technician
High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTech) is an infrastructure-centered firm focusing on practice, research, policy, and technology transfer. HPTech was established in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving the U.S. federal government at their facilities and project sites. Our uniqueness lies in our ability to integrate physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, planning, and policy when developing and delivering infrastructure solutions.
HPTech is currently pursuing a task order on a major federal contract, and we are identifying candidates who would be interested in working with us should we be awarded the task order. At this stage, we are looking for a Coatings and Corrosion Technician (CCT) who will be responsible for setting up tests, installing instrumentation, conducting tests, and acquiring data in a state-of-the-art Coatings and Corrosion Laboratory (CCL) at a government facility. The research conducted in the CCL advances the application of corrosion prevention and mitigation technologies for highway infrastructure. The research in the laboratory is focused on improving the durability and performance of innovative corrosion-resistant metals and coating systems.
Qualifications

Associate degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or electronics.

At least 5 years of experience in a coatings and corrosion laboratory.

Good level of mechanical aptitude.

Demonstrated experience in working with various corrosion monitoring equipment.

Demonstrated experience in conducting various coatings and corrosion tests according to ASTM and AASHTO test procedures.

Demonstrated experience in preparing test specimens for coatings and corrosion testing.

Demonstrated experience in the corrosion condition evaluation of reinforced concrete and structural steel in highway bridges.

Excellent verbal, presentation, and writing skills.

Excellent team and collaborative skills.

AMPP Corrosion Technician and/or Coating Inspector certification highly desirable.
This anticipated position, which is contingent upon the task order award to HPTech, would be based in McLean, Virginia.
