Bridge Technicians
High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTech) is an infrastructure-centered firm focusing on practice, research, policy, and technology transfer. HPTech was established in 2003 with the primary purpose of serving the U.S. federal government at their facilities and project sites. Our uniqueness lies in our ability to integrate physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, planning, and policy when developing and delivering infrastructure solutions.
HPTech is currently pursuing an upcoming major federal contract, and we are identifying candidates who would be interested in working with us should we be awarded the contract. At this stage, we are looking for Bridge Technicians who will be responsible for performing research in the FHWA’s Long-Term Bridge Performance (LTBP) Program. LTBP, a long-term research effort on-going for the last 15 years, is aimed at collecting high quality bridge data from representative sample of different types of bridges across the nation to help better understand their performance. The bridge technicians shall be primarily responsible for conducting the field testing and evaluation of bridges, and collecting, processing, and analyzing the bridge performance data.
Qualifications

An associate degree in engineering.

At least 3 years of related experience, including testing and evaluation of bridges.

Knowledge of and experience with NBIS bridge inspections.

Knowledge of and experience with various bridge testing and evaluation techniques. These include half-cell potential measurements, corrosion rate measurements, delamination detections using impact echo, GPR and other techniques, and assessment of fatigue and fracture damage in steel bridges using ultrasonic and other techniques.

Experience with the processing and analysis of bridge performance data.

Excellent verbal and writing skills.

Excellent team and collaborative skills.

ASNT certification (at least Level II) in one or more NDE techniques is highly desirable.
This anticipated position, which is contingent upon the contract award to HPTech, would be based in McLean, Virginia.
